[ a good thing he's had some time to get used to phones in reverie.. this one looks a little different, but the functionality is more or less the same. anyway! the feed opens in a small garden, outside of tighnari's cottage, where he's sitting on the freshly tilled earth, beneath his fruit trees. nevermind that blueberries generally grow on bushes not trees WHATEVER this is fable we do what we want. he seems to be enjoying the shade! ]

Ah - hello.

[ tighnari's tall, furry ears flick as he gets comfortable, sitting cross-legged with his tail curled at his side. ]

My name is Tighnari, I'm a botanist trained in plant medicine, so I thought I might as well make people aware of my presence. There's a lot of new and interesting plant life here, so I'd like to please advise you all not to eat anything you're not entirely positive is edible.

In fact, maybe don't eat anything you forage in the wild in general. But if you do, please seek out treatment immediately. Many plants and fungi are fine to consume, but still others can be potentially quite harmful. If you're unsure about anything you find, you're welcome to ask me. And for those of you finding yourselves with new.. appendages, I'm planning to produce many balms and oils that are safe for fur and feathers and scales, and can help you to keep them healthy.

[Though Tsubaki has yet to find others she recognizes -- both in name and race -- his ears and tail were reminiscent of that of Miqo'te. There's a strange sort of comfort in that, despite likely being from different worlds.]

That's useful to know. I don't know much about wild plants like this, so it would be good to be informed about what is safe to eat and what is not. Would it be alright to bring any new plantlife found to you for examination in the future?

[ ah, someone with good sense and self-preservation! he smiles. ]

I'd be more than happy to identify anything for you to the best of my ability. There are some plants and fungi here that are entirely new to me, but I've been spending all of my free time studying up.

[Did he... did he hear this right...]

You're trained in plant medicine... I-if it would be okay, could I possibly assist you? My knowledge may not be the greatest, but I would like to be a doctor in the future. So far I only taught myself in secret by reading various books on the subject...

[He talks faster than before. He's pretty excited about this idea, but at the same time he's nervous to ask so he just tries to say everything at once.]

Another mentee, hmm?

[ tighnari looks thoughtful, rubbing his chin; he certainly doesn't want to let this young man down, and the more that know what they're doing in regards to flora and fungi, the better. ]

All right, I don't see why not. I have another mentee here, Collei, but she's come quite far in her studies, so taking on another apprentice shouldn't be too difficult.

( when the video feed clicks on, a face that Tighnari undoubtedly recognises appears! Kaveh is currently lounging on his single bed, since it's the only furniture item in his house that isn't a disgrace to society. not quite as good as his bed back in Sumeru, but decent enough.

the blonde man can be seen lounging with his head in his hand. haaaay gurl. )

Tighnari! Am I ever glad to see a familiar face here. ( apart from Alhaitham but, like, this isn't about him. ) Not to worry, I wouldn't dream of eating anything I find off the forest floor. You and the Forest Rangers always did scare me to pieces with your tales of poisonous encounters.

Did you just arrive as well?

[ .. that sure is a familiar face, and honestly, it's one that tighnari is incredibly happy to see. he's been through some fucking shit, my friend. it was not at all poggers. also, he learned about poggers. kaveh might notice the long horizontal scar across tighnari's right ear that absolutely wasn't there the last time they spoke.

or he might not!! i'm not your dad. either way, tighnari smiles in a way that's probably a little more soft and relieved than it should be, all things considered. ]

Good, I don't need you sprawled across my bed in tears. [ again. probably. ] I arrived a few days ago, yes. You look comfortable.

( once he stops being so wrapped up in Alhaitham, he'll definitely notice the scar. after all, no detail can escape the eyes of an artist. )

Hey! Listen ... that was one time, all right? ( wrong. it was many times. it's not his fault he's an emotional drunk! ) Anyway - yes, I am comfortable! Do you know why? ( he starfishes in his bed and kicks his legs out! ) I live alone! Goodbye, wicked Scribe! Your curse has been lifted from my life! Ahh, never again will I have to endure a cold shoulder or an ugly piece of furniture appearing out of the blue. I'm free at last!

( a detail he's not going to mention: he cried while drunk at the aurora ball when he saw Alhaitham and the both argued and it was just a mess. BUT, ANYWAY. )

Mmm. A few days, then? Same as me. I've only seen that ex-housemate of mine so far. Is there anyone else from Sumeru here too?

[ so... never?? ]

It was many times.

[ but he'll move on!! everyone knows it was many times. even kaveh. ah, tighnari missed all of his complaining.. he smiles, resting his chin against the heel of his hand, his elbow propped against one knee. ]

We'll see how long that lasts. But yes, Collei is here as well, as well as Lord Kusanali herself, surprisingly enough. I've also met a few from Inazuma.

I'm sure there are plenty of new things here we have yet to see. It's kind of exciting to think about. [There's the adventurer in her.] I'm not really fit for researching myself, but I'm more than happy to help out however I can.

( yeah he's definitely ready to move swiftly on!! )

L-Lord Kusanali is here...!? Wow. The Fae of this world certainly have a nerve to steal a God from her domain. Or part of her, at least ... that's some incredibly rash behaviour.

It certainly is. An entire new world full of lands to explore and new plants to identify.. [ he looks bright-eyed and bushy tailed. literally. ] If you're interested in helping, the best thing you could do is keep a notebook on the things you find - where you find them, their habitat, anything distinct about their surroundings you can take note of.

[ a quick nod. ]

She is. I was surprised, too - who would have expected it? Thankfully, she seems to be settling in well. She's far less.. wrathful than many gods have been known to be, so.

I can do that. I'll be sure to take one along with me the next time I'm gathering materials. It would be good to have some sort of documentation of the things we find here anyway.

My thoughts exactly. The more we know, the better, and the better we can make use of what we find.

.. and the more we can keep others out of trouble.

As long as she's doing all right, that's what matters ...

( speaking of which. guess which artist has noticed that tear on Tighnari's ear? he pulls his phone closer to his face in order to take a better look a it. )

Hang on a second - Tighnari, what happened to your ear? You look like you've been in a fight!

Ah..

[ ahem. tighnari's gaze darts away for a moment, before he's rubbing absently at the back of one ear. it's not that he doesn't trust kaveh to know - of course he does - it's just.. ]

That's a bit of a long story.

( oh! it sounds so much more serious than he expected! )

Is that so ... if the details are too painful to share with me, you know I won't push you. Just know that I'm here if you need to chat, all right? I wouldn't mind swinging by if you would like some company. ( he's so fucking good. ALHAITHAM TAKES HIM FOR GRANTED!!!!! )

[ kaveh.. tighnari smiles in a way that's both gentle, and very tired. it's so good to see him again, even just over the phone. tighnari's chest constricts with emotion, but he's quick to bite it back, clearing his throat. ]

That's not a bad plan. I'm making lunch, you're welcome to join me, if you like. We can eat in the garden.

[ alhaitham ABSOLUTELY takes him for granted!! ]

That's a hard task to manage at times. We'll need all the help we can get for that.

[She didn't know about here in Fable, but she had more than enough experience of this back home.]

Oh, don't I know it. Watching out for fool adventurers was a full time job, back home.

[ on top of his many, many other duties. being a forest watcher isn't easy, but it's sure rewarding. ]

( and sure enough, after getting dressed and straightening himself out a little, Kaveh arrives at the front door to Tighnari's cottage before knocking once or twice. when stepping back from the door, he can't help but appreciate how cute his home looks ... it's very verdant, which suits him. )

[ tighnari, of course, hears him coming before kaveh even knocks, so he's at the door the moment kaveh's hand drops. he's very comfy in his new threads, and from the cottage the scent of warm soup and fresh bread wafts. one ear twitches, and tighnari smiles.

if he were the hugging type, he'd absolutely be compelled to tug kaveh in for one, because friend, things have been rough, but tighnari contains himself, stepping back so kaveh can pass. the little space is still somewhat bare, but it's cozy nonetheless, and newly furnished!! with a cushy cream sofa and wooden side table. in the windows are several cuttings gathered from the forest, resting in empty bottles and cups of water, taking root. tighnari ushers him in, and closes the door. ]

It's good to see you.

( when the door opens and Kaveh sees Tighnari wearing that impeccable outfit, it should be no surprise that a man so drawn to aesthetic beauty is stunned for a moment. he steps inside, admiring the inner workings of the other man's cottage before taking a moment to really drink in how nice his outfit looks. )

Wow, your outfit! Now that's a look that certainly suits you. I simply adore those clothes!

( but, aesthetics aren't why he's here. )

Sorry. You know me. I certainly didn't come here to fawn over your clothes and your house, despite how beautiful they look. Would you like to sit down to have a chat?
