network social #1
flitter!
Buzz buzz buzz! That's the sound of your network device receiving a social alert. Maybe you've poked around your device a little bit already, or maybe you haven't, but either way - you're about to have the chance to take part in one of Fable's social apps!

The notification chimes directly from Flitter (the fairy version of Twitter!) And this app is exactly what you would expect. Mostly nonsense scattered among hundreds and thousands of Fleets (Tweets) from the mystical creatures of Fable (and beyond!)

Your device pings you to the following post:

New Fable villagers!!!!!! Give us ur most spicy take! GO!!! #fablenewbies

While as fun as they are kind, no one can deny that the Fae have a tendency to be quite mischievous. Giving them access to social media only seems to enhance these feelings! Looks like they want the new inhabitants of Fable - or just anyone who receives a magical notification - to post to Flitter with their spiciest take! Do you have certain opinions on how milky a cup of tea should be? Do you think sprinkles on cupcakes are essential or pointless? No matter the opinion, the Fae want to see it and strike up discussion!

Time to grab the popcorn.

Copy and paste the following code into your comment section to make a Flitter post:

Welcome to Fable's first network social! Please read this before participating!

This social post is open to everyone! This means that you do not have to be a member of Fable to participate! You can think of it like a fun TDM, since network socials like this will happen every month within the game.

We ask that non-Fable residents mark that they're not in-game in their subject line, and that Fable residents use the hashtag #fablenewbies in their posts so that the Fae can find them! After all, they wanted to see some exciting conversations brewing within Fable, but outsiders are more than welcome to chime in as well. Feel free to assume that Flitter is just as big of a dumpster fire as real Twitter. The code is only required for a toplevel, but replies can be written in a text font (like courier.)

Lastly, while we love IC banter, please remember to be civil and familiarise yourself with the game rules. Have fun!

Let us start from the beginning.
Flitter is an application that we can use to communicate in an open forum of sorts.
Aether is, presumably, a person using it. Just like you are.
So I am not Flitter and neither is this Aether.

The 'spices' are another matter entirely.

Are you well?

[Well apparently having to deal with Sebek on a regular basis has paid of, because this is actually clear enough for Maelleus to more or less follow.]

Dear Riddle Rosehearts,
Your explanation is most informative. Humans are truly remarkable creatures to create such a thing. Though I admit, I still find such things a venture in frustration.

I should ask that of you, you are int he realm of the Fae, and are far more at risk of their mischief than I.

Respectfully,
Malleus Draconia, Prince of Briar Valley

For you, it may be frustration. For others? It's convenience.

[ also, he's pretty sure even if he told malleus to stop including unnecessary salutations and signature (again), it'd get ignored. so. ]

Am I? Perhaps my presence alone is enough to ward them off. I have no fear or worries, unless you believe that I should?

Dear Riddle Rosehearts,

The trouble for me begins when in a decade or so, it becomes obsolete and I must learn something new all over again. It is a remarkable thing that humans can progress so quickly, it is admirable, but still difficult.

If I were required to name a human who I trusted to learn our ways and our rules, it would be you Rosehearts. However, as it is you have not yet had the opportunity to learn. That is where the dangers lay.

Respectfully,
Malleus Draconia, Prince of Briar Valley

Surely you should know above all others that learning is not simply about retaining information, but then applying said information and assisting you with understanding the unknown.

Well it seems I have time now to learn, so why not start by telling me something you know that others may not? As you could be considered an eminent figure in all things fae, why not give me something I can use to protect myself?

A little bit of Aether makes me your man

Dear Riddle Rosehearts,

I will offer what knowledge I can, but be mindful that all Fae are different and thus have different rules.

Do not give Fae you do not trust your name, but in order to not be rude you mustn't give them an entirely false name either. A nickname of sorts should suffice.

Most Fae cannot or will not lie to you outright, but be wary of how things are phrased, and keep in mind that they may not have mentioned everything. Ask questions to make certain of the meanings.

Be wary of the food, it is likely enchanted, though the effects are likely to be more of a nuisance than cause true harm.

These are the most common traps I have seen humans fall into. While it is unlikely any Fae mean you harm, they may not understand the limitations humans have. Should you find yourself in trouble, use my name. That is often enough to frighten lesser Fae off.

[Of course he gives those lists oblivious to how often Lilia, Sebek, and he himself fall into those categories... which is part of the problem really.]

jams out for a moment or two...

[ he's so proud of malleus... he didn't end with his name this time. ]

So make up a name for myself as to protect my identity and being, be alert to deception through hidden truths, do not randomly taste food that isn't of my own making, and if I am in peril, I may refer to you as a way to protect myself.

[ riddle thinks for a moment. ]

How are Fae any different than some of the student body that we are accustomed to already?

[ except for the first and last parts, it's almost like... you know. he's already had some experience with some of these? ]
